Vanessa Carlton is celebrating the arrival of her first baby with husband John McCauley. The US singer and John announced their happy news via Instagram on 13 January, sharing the very first picture of their newborn daughter. "Sid the Kid, whoa," John captioned a photo of himself holding his tiny daughter, all bundled up in a blanket and hat.

"There's a new mama and papa on the block! Huge congrats to John McCauley and Vanessa Carlton on their baby girl!!! Welcome to the family," tweeted Partisan Records, the label to which John's band Deer Tick is signed. Ordinary Day singer Vanessa, 34, announced the news of her pregnancy back in June – simultaneously explaining the delay of her next album. "No, those aren't a bunch of croissants. We're expecting a baby," she captioned a picture of her growing baby bump on Facebook. "It's healthy and moving around like a champ.
"I'm bummed to delay the album because it's so special to me and the perfect combination of England and Tennessee. When I put the record on it feels like medicine. I hope it does the same for you… in due time!" Her announcement came just eight months after Vanessa endured a tragic ectopic pregnancy.
She and singer John tied the knot a month later, in December 2013, in an outdoor ceremony officiated by Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks.
