The newly-published scene was shot in March 1998 on Fifth Avenue in New York City, and with the show’s 20th anniversary less than a year away, HBO dug into their archives and came across this complete and utter gem. STORY: The surprising cost of Carrie Bradshaw's Sex and the City tutu

It turns out that the iconic white tutu, the one Carrie is dressed in when she gets splashed by a puddle, very nearly didn’t make it onto our screens. The never-before-seen alternative SATC opening title sequence

Darren Star, who created the hit TV series, told Entertainment Weekly that the opening sequence, which features Carrie strolling past a bus and spotting her face plastered onto the side, was filmed with two wardrobe options. He went on to explain that they filmed a version where Carrie missed the puddle and hence didn’t get covered in water, instead she trips when she catches sight of the advert. Costume designer Patricia Field explained that at first, Darren really wasn’t sold on the frothy tutu look and thought that it may not work. Thank goodness he changed his mind.

A third film is on the way...

It was confirmed late last year that all four of the leading ladies have signed up to star in a third movie. After the widely-adored rom-com series ran for six years, ending in 2004, the first film was released in 2008 and was a huge hit with fans. We can’t wait to see what sort of high jinks the fashionable foursome get up to, and get a peek at Carrie’s new wardrobe.
